FIELD NOTE / 02THE PRACTICE OF MOVING WORK FORWARD

Scattered feedback creates invisible work.

One comment arrives in a call. Another sits under an old design link. A third appears in a direct message. Before anyone can make the change, someone has to find the comments, compare them, and work out which decision is current.

Choose one review home.

Bring feedback into one agreed place and connect it to the right version of the work. This does not mean every conversation must happen in one tool. It means the final direction should be easy to find.

Separate preference from a problem.

“Make this stronger” tells the team very little. Is the hierarchy unclear? Is the message missing a key point? Does the page ask the visitor to do too many things? Describing the problem gives the person doing the work room to solve it thoughtfully.

Resolve contradictions before execution.

When two comments pull in different directions, do not quietly pass both to the team. Identify the conflict, ask the right decision-maker, and record the answer. That small pause can prevent an unnecessary cycle of revisions.

Close the loop.

When a round of feedback has been addressed, summarize the changes and name the questions that remain open. A review becomes easier when everyone understands what they are being asked to evaluate.
